Can I get a quote over the phone or via email?
Absolutely! Just keep in mind that a phone or email quote is simply an estimate based on typical costs for a transformation based on an average client's staircase transformation.
With respect to your time, we are always very conservative with our estimates so that your actual cost is not likely to be higher than the initial estimate – in fact, your final price is often lower than the initial quote.
The cost variables the effect the final price of your staircase transformation are the iron baluster styles, color and design pattern you ultimately choose for your home and we work hard to help you align your baluster selections with your personal home design goals AND stay within your budget.

So the phone/email estimate is within my budget, what happens next?
The next step would be to schedule a 30 minute, no obligation in-home consultation at your convenience to show you baluster samples, client photos, discuss design ideas for your home and to assess your staircase with the goal of providing a detailed cost proposal, custom baluster design sketch and sample renderings to help you visualize the change from wood spindles to wrought iron balusters.
Within 24 hours of our meeting, we will email you the proposal and design sketch for you to review and consider. Any additional questions, concerns or design changes can be discussed in a call, email or meeting. Whatever is best for you.
Once you've decided to proceed with your staircase transformation, all you need to do is sign our proposal and provide a 50% deposit check. This can be picked up at your home or mailed directly to us at Staircase Transformations @ 7082 Harbor Court, Tega Cay, SC 29708

Along with personal checks, do you accept credit cards?
Yes, via PayPal. For our clients' convenience, we have a PayPal link on our website (see Contact Us page) for submitting initial deposits and balance payments.

Once ordered, how long does it take before you start?
Since we don't order your balusters from our supplier until you decide to proceed with your staircase transformation, it typically takes about 10 – 14 days from the time we receive your signed agreement and deposit until your staircase transformation is complete.
We try to accommodate clients with special occasions, holidays or other important deadlines. For those with unusually urgent timeframes, we can expedite shipping and installation scheduling for an additional (shipping) cost (please inquire).

Do you perform staircase transformations on weekends?
Why not? If that's best for you and your family, we are available on most Saturdays and strive to accommodate our clients' schedules to make their staircase transformation day as convenient as possible.

How long does it take to install the new balusters?
Most staircase transformations take just ONE day but transformations of about 80 balusters or more usually take 1 ½ - 2 days to complete.

Do you remove the railing to replace the spindles with balusters?
Nope. We simply cut the old white spindles in half and remove them without dismantling the staircase at all. This allows us to perform the transformation relatively quickly and without any structural change to the existing staircase. The new wrought iron balusters are custom cut to size and installed in the exact same positions as the old wood spindles.
Our transformation technique is a classic "retro-fit" and is the simplest, most cost effective way to achieve the dramatic visual change from white wood to elegant wrought iron.

How are my new wrought iron balusters held in place?
The balusters are permanently attached to the railing and stair tread positions with a commercial-grade epoxy specifically designed for staircase installations. The clear, odorless epoxy is injected into both holes right before the custom cut baluster is placed in its' final position.

How long does it take the epoxy to dry?
At normal room temperature, the epoxy firms up in about an hour and fully cures in about 12 hours. We encourage our clients to not touch the new balusters until the following morning to allow for adequate dry/cure time and assurance that all the balusters will be aligned, level and looking great forever!

Will the wrought iron balusters make my railings more stable than they are now?
Yes, but not necessarily because of the wrought iron balusters themselves. Once fully cured, it's the epoxy in the upper and lower positions that stiffens, creating the permanent bond between the railing and the stair treads that is much more effective than the small nails and wood glue being used to connect the current wooden spindles.
Therefore, thanks to the epoxy - the railing will be more stable and stronger than ever before!

Is the installation going to make a mess in my home and be disruptive to my family?
Absolutely not! While there is some sawdust and wood shavings when we remove the old wooden spindles and prepare the site for wrought iron, we diligently vacuum the areas we are working on as we go, throughout the day. We also use padded blankets around the work areas and even have cardboard shields to minimize the falling sawdust from the upstairs overlooks and balconies so that clean-up is easy and contained to small areas.
As for the outside of your home where all the wrought iron cutting occurs, we are just as careful not make a mess or be a disturbance to you, your family and your neighbors out there. We typically set up our metal cutting equipment and tools outside your front door with clear, safe passage to the house.
On rainy transformation days, instead of rescheduling, with your permission,we can set up at the outside edge of your garage to avoid delays due to weather and tracking wet shoes into your home.

Is the any maintenance or upkeep of my new wrought iron balusters?
Other than occasionally dusting them, there is no on-going maintenance or upkeep at all. No painting or tightening loose spindles or cleaning off dirt and fingerprints EVER again!
